Where things often go wrong

With fish imports and exports, the risk often lies in the details

Documents do not match
What goes wrong?

The invoice, packing list, veterinary certificates and customs declaration may contain different product details, quantities or countries.

What are the possible consequences?

The declaration or inspection may require additional explanation or correction. This can delay the release of the goods and put the subsequent planning under pressure.

Origin and provenance are confused
What goes wrong?

Where the fish comes from, where it was caught and where it was processed are not always applied correctly in the documentation and customs clearance.

What are the possible consequences?

The wrong proof of origin or tariff may be applied. This can lead to additional questions, corrections or unexpected import duties.

Certificates and inspections are coordinated too late
What goes wrong?

It only becomes clear shortly before arrival or departure that a veterinary document is missing, details are incorrect or an inspection still needs to be scheduled.

What are the possible consequences?

Fresh products then have to wait longer while processing or onward transport has already been planned. With time-sensitive fish shipments, a difference of just a few hours can already cause problems.

Terms of delivery are not clearly agreed in advance
What goes wrong?

At the time of purchase, it is not made sufficiently clear who is responsible for transport, insurance, customs formalities and the associated costs.

What are the possible consequences?

During the shipment, discussions arise about responsibilities, or it becomes clear that the documents and agreements do not match the chosen trade route.

Our approach to fish

Control over your fish flow before the shipment departs

A fish shipment can only move smoothly when it is clear in advance which documents, inspections, declarations and permits are required. That is why we look further ahead than just the next customs declaration.

We map out your flow of goods

We look at the product, origin and provenance, any processing, the transport route and the final destination. This allows us to determine in advance which rules and documents apply to your situation.

We check your documents in advance

We check invoices, packing lists, certificates, proof of origin and transport documents for completeness and consistency. Any discrepancies can then be corrected before they cause problems later in the process.

We determine which requirements and procedures apply

We assess which declarations, veterinary requirements, inspections and permits are needed, and where specific risks or opportunities may exist. This prevents necessary steps from only being discovered shortly before arrival or departure.

We coordinate inspections and the parties involved

Where necessary, we liaise with the NVWA, inspection points, carriers and other parties involved. This helps align inspection, release and logistics planning.

We handle the customs clearance and administration

We arrange the customs clearance and guide the shipment through to release. For permit procedures, we keep import, processing and export administratively aligned, so your records remain verifiable afterwards.
