Documents of origin
Accurate proof of origin
When exporting goods outside the European Union, an origin document may be required. This document shows where a product was produced or processed.
Without correct origin documentation, goods may be delayed, incur additional costs, or even be refused at the border. Flevo Trade Service handles everything related to origin documents, from determining the correct status to preparing and processing them properly.

Establishing origin
Origin documents are often underestimated. Yet many countries explicitly require proof of origin. They are used in export to comply with the customs regulations of the destination country.
A distinction is made between preferential and non-preferential origin documents. Non-preferential documents, such as the Certificate of Origin, are often required for political or administrative reasons. Preferential documents can lead to reduced or waived import duties in the destination country.
The type of origin document required depends on the product, the country of destination, and the applicable trade agreements. We always determine this for each individual shipment. Examples include documents such as EUR.1, EUR-MED, or an invoice declaration.
Import duties
A correctly prepared origin document can affect the level of import duties for the recipient. In some cases, this can mean a reduced rate or even a full 0% tariff.
Incorrect or missing documentation, on the other hand, can lead to delays, additional costs, or extra inspections. That is why we assess in advance whether a product actually complies with the rules of origin under the relevant agreement.
The correct document is only issued when all conditions have been met.

Our working process
Origin documents may seem administratively straightforward, but they are directly linked to customs duties, trade agreements, and traceability afterward. By assessing what is actually required for each shipment, we prevent discussions later on and keep the export process manageable.

Determine
Based on the product and destination, we determine which type of origin document is required and whether preferential treatment is possible.
Preparation and verification
The required information is collected and processed. Where necessary, we verify whether the rules of origin under the relevant trade agreement have been met.
Completion
The document is applied for and completed correctly, including any customs validation where required, so it can be used for export.
Everything arranged for an error-free flow

This depends on the type of document and validation by customs or KVK.
Among others, Certificate of Origin, EUR.1, EUR-MED and invoice declarations.
Preferential may result in a reduction or exemption from import duties. Non-preferential is usually required to prove origin.
